Ed stevens has been a flameworker since 1973. He sculpts all his pieces from flameworked borosilicate glass (commonly known as pyrex). These items are made by working the glass in a 5,000 degree flame. All sculpting is freehand no molds are used. So each piece is totally unique. Many pieces are mounted on manzanita wood, which is an evergreen shrub that grows in the southwest. Some pieces are also mounted on agate slabs and pieces of alabaster.
