Find 1,000s of photos, information, and tips for hundreds of venues where we've photographed weddings. Blue Bend Photography is a small group of wedding photographers based in Asheville, NC. We photograph weddings all over Western North Carolina, the Carolina's and the US Southeast. All of us are very outdoorsy people and love photographing outdoor weddings.

Whether it's hiking to find the most amazing elopement spot around Asheville, braving the rain to take outdoor wedding photos, or trekking up and over mountains to find a field of red blueberry bushes for perfect mountain engagement photos, we're up for it. Asheville is home to all us of now, but before moving to North Carolina to photograph weddings in the mountains.

Nick and Maddy lived in Alaska and near the Alps in Germany before that. Colby moved here from Vermont, and Kevin moved to here to be in the mountains as well. Wedding photography is also not a hobby. All of us have years of experience, working full time as wedding photographers.
Services
The first time I can remember playing with a camera was at a Detroit Tigers game when I was about 7. I took my parents' camera with their zoom lens to the game to take photos of the players.
On a trip to Yosemite when I was 15, I saw a bunch of photos in the Visitor's Center, bought a book by Ansel Adams, and it turned from a hobby into much more.
By 17, I had bought my own camera and lenses, a full dark room, and was spending all my free time (and money) on getting better at photography.
When I was 18, after a lot of long hours bagging groceries at the supermarket, I bought a very used Mamiya 645.
We get asked this question A LOT.
There is no good canned answer but I can give you a few things to consider when thinking about how much time you'll need on this business.
Getting ready shots.
Getting ready shots are the most common thing that I see people take out of their wedding photography package and the most common thing that I hear people say they regret not having photos of.
When you are looking through your photos a couple of weeks after the wedding is over, it always a huge bonus to have pictures of your hair getting done, your make-up getting done and photos of your fiance and his buddies getting ready.
Another question that we get asked a lot about is "Do I need 1 photographer or do I need two at my wedding?"
The very first wedding that I ever assisted on (gosh that seems like a long time ago) was in Michigan with about 500 guests.
It was two very large families (one Italian-American and one Hindu-American) and both were very close families.
There were two full ceremonies (one for each of the cultures) and it was one of the most beautiful wedding days that I've experienced.
The company that I had just gotten hired at thought that it would be a good idea if the main photographer had another shooter to help get all the important shots.
This is an article that Wendy wrote for us last year, but it's been so popular, that I thought that I would re-post it.
Wendy Ballance of Blush is one of the best Makeup Artists that is around.
I've had a lot of brides ask me for advice on how much or what kind of makeup to wear when it comes to the wedding day and for photos.
I have photographed a lot of weddings, but I'm not any kind of makeup expert like Wendy.
She has graciously written an awesome article for anyone interested in makeup for the wedding day.
