My life right now is spent hopping from one fancy wedding venue to the next, but it wasn't always that way. My passion for photography started when I picked up my first camera at the age of 11 years old. As a pre-teen, I felt enamored by the skateboarding culture and skate photography. I dreamed of traveling the world photographing skateboarding for a living and tried relentlessly to make it in the skateboarding industry.

By the time I turned 16, I had dropped out of high school and was living on the streets, public parks, and friends' sofas in Southern California, still pursuing my dream of being a professional skateboard photographer. At 18 years old, and still not a professional skate photographer, I decided it was time for a change; I packed my camera bag and drove to San Francisco to become a wedding photographer.

I spent weeks living out of my car and using Starbucks as my office. Slowly, using my skateboarding portfolio as my only reference, I began booking clients; now, wedding photography is my full-time career.

Still haven't found your wedding venue yet?
Choosing the place you will share your wedding vows is about more than just finding a building with enough seats.
The venue is a major chapter in the story that is your wedding day.
Choosing the right venue will have a huge impact on how your guests will experience your wedding, it will effect the way you reminisce on your wedding day, and it will dictate the kind of wedding photos you will end up with.
If you haven't yet found the perfect wedding venue, take a look at my list of favorite venues and read a little bit about why I love them!
We booked Carsten for our engagement photo sessions because we wanted something than the typical "dreamy beach photo session" and we got exactly what we wanted!
We shot our pictures in downtown LA and he created such beautiful angles.
Carsten is beyond artistic!
Once we met him for our shoot he was very down to earth and friendly.
He made my fianc and I feel comfortable and he was able to capture the most genuine smiles!
I am blown away by how he made the pictures look right in camera and even more with his editing!
My style can be described as "creative documentary", What that means that not only do I strive to document and preserve your story, but to do it as creatively and artistically as possible.
I pride myself on taking a photojournalistic approach to wedding photography.
This allows me to blend into the background and be able to capture more authentic moments.
It also allows for a more stress free wedding day as you don't feel like there is a big giant camera in your face all day.
I believe in giving you everything I've got.
