The Watson Building was built in 1927 by Norman Baker, Owner-Manger of Baker Furniture. The Watson family took over the location during the 1940s and the building was home to Watson Furniture until soon after Lubbock's 1970 tornado. The current owners purchased the property in 1992 and the restoration and renovation of this Lubbock landmark has been an ongoing project for the past 25 years.

Later in 1928, due to the craftsmanship of the building, it became a Montgomery Ward retail outlet, and was Lubbock's first department store at the 13th Street location but decided to open one block to the north on Broadway instead.
The building was then immediately leased to the Groce family, which operated Groce Furniture through the Depression years.
The Watson family took over the location during the 1940s, and the building was home to Watson Furniture until soon after the 1970 Lubbock tornado.

The building is yours from 10:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. *If you would like to use the Watson Building to set-up, rehearse or decorate the day before, we ask for $300 for a minimum of two hours.
Additional hours can be added for simply $100/hour.
There is also a security deposit of $500 which is returned to you within 30-days following your event as long as there are no damages, spills, broken furniture, curtains harmed or removed, etc.
The security deposit of $500 and $500 of the rental fee ($1,000) are due upon signing of your contract and this holds your requested date.
