They are family owned, and I have received from my husband lovely, meaningful gold jewelry hand made by John Bartelsmeyer. I trust them with my jewelry. I may not be a steady customer, but when I need an appraisal, a repair, or a special piece of jewelry, I go to Bartelsmeyer. We are so blessed in our community to have such a wonderful talented jeweler take care of our every need.

Amazing experience to shop in this beautiful store! I recently lost a diamond out of my wedding ring after 32 years of wear and the prongs were wore down and was about to lose my big diamond and took it to John and he redid my ring and mounting and it is more beautiful than ever. Wonderful people to work with. Great to have a local business to trust with your treasured piece.

Beautiful artistry in the work. Tremendous knowledge base in stones and settings~ Exceptional customer service and affordable. There is something so valuable in getting your jewelry at a local business with care and long term relationship.
Services
Do you know how long our store has been a part of the Fort Scott community?
Our history begins in the early 1900s when the F. Wiles Jewelry store opened on Market Street.
When the Bartelsmeyer family purchased the store in 1963, we committed to growing our local business into a name that would become one of the most trusted and respected in our community.
At Bartelsmeyer Jewelry, we do a little bit of everything, but our specialties are retail jewelry sales, engagement rings, custom jewelry designs, and repair or restoration of all types of jewelry.
Our store accepts local checks on a per customer basis.
We will need your updated address and a copy of your current Driver's License on file with our store.
Just ask one of our team members to update your account.
Are you looking for an extra-special piece of jewelry?
That's great!
Our team is almost as excited as you are about your one-of-a-kind piece!
There are just a few things you need to know before we start your special order.
First, drop by our store and ask one of our team members for our Special order form, then put down a 50% deposit, and we'll take care of the rest.
Our jeweler recommends having your pieces cleaned and checked as regularly as possible.
But hey, we know life is crazy, so make sure to have your jewelry looked over at least 2-3 times a year.
At our store, this service is completely complimentary, even if you didn't buy your jewelry from us.
In a way, it's like free insurance, because finding a problem, like a loose stone that might fall out, will save you money in the long run.
Don't worry, if your stones need tightened or your jewelry needs repaired, we will call you with an estimate before doing anything that will cost you money.
Actually, that's a really interesting question!
More than 100 miles beneath the earth's surface, tremendous pressure and extreme heat work together to cause carbon atoms to crystalize into the hardest material known to man, a diamond.
Just to help you imagine how much pressure that is, think about having 40,000 Asian elephants standing on your little toe, Ouch! Diamonds reach our earth's surface when they are propelled up through volcanic vents or pipes by a rare kind of magma called kimberlite.
Nowadays you see those signs everywhere, We Buy Gold!
So, why should you sell your old or broken jewelry to our store?
That's a really good question, and we've got a really good answer.
At Bartelsmeyer Jewelry, we take pride in our honesty.
We offer fair prices and same-day payments.
Our in-house jeweler has over 50 years of experience working with and purchasing precious metals.
If you are unsure if your jewelry item is made of a precious metal or stone, we will be happy to test the piece for you at no charge.
