Spirit Of Independence
CRUISE Each cruise is different. It's the passengers that make the difference. Fun groups make fun trips. SAIL Our course and sail trim should match the wind and weather that day. Key West has many sights to see by water. Some days we might sail the beaches off Key West or the northwest passage toward the Gulf of Mexico or Man O War harbor watching for dolphins.

SIGHTS TO SEE are so many: the Navy Base, Coast Guard Base, Customs House, Mallory Square, Sunset Key, and nearby islands. You can also gain local knowledge about the coral reef, the Straights of Florida, Cottrells Key, and Boca Grande. PRIVATE CHARTERS We love these. Make Spirit your private yacht for the day, for a special event, or a romantic cruise.

Weddings aboard Spirit are truly memorable. We are a small, family-owned and operated business, paying attention to detail and passenger satisfaction. Every passenger is very important to us. Thanks for considering our schooner, Spirit of Independence.
Services
Our sunset cruise / sunset sail begins out of historic Schooner Wharf bar We try not to give a boring boat ride.
Sail times vary according to the setting sun.
We depart approximately 1 hour before sunset and return approximately 1 hour after sunset.
However, we limit our cruises to 30 passengers so it's never crowded.
An average cruise is often 15 or 20 people.
The public walk-on's allow us to meet and make new friends.
Private Sails range from small intimate groups to larger parties, weddings, birthdays, company or family parties.
Aboard Spirit, we have had great fun with Weddings, Proposals, Honeymoon sails, and Anniversary sails.
Contact us about planning the perfect wedding at sea, then sail into the sunset, before returning ashore.
In 2013, the director of the BBC proposed marriage and sailed Spirit that week in Key West.
One year later, as planned, they flew the party from London for their honeymoon cruise aboard Spirit here in Key West.
We have also had people marry DURING our sunset sail in the company of other passengers.
Capitana Dayana is the greatest sailor i ever knew on a cruise she is wonderful, but when its blowing a gale and your clawing your way off a lee shore!
Captain Joanne is not only a real tall ship sea captain & our book keeper, when not sailing Spirit she is captain on the two greatest schooners in Key West.
Elizabeth is captain for Boy Scouts Of America, Operation Seabase High Adventure, she is also our crew member aboard Spirit.
You might notice we don't change crew, all our crew & family has grown and earned they're own captains license & now runs they're own boat!
Schooner Wharf Bar: Paul & Evalina sailed into Key West 38 years ago aboard schooner Defiance and started selling beer on the deck of the ship.
Thirty years later this morphed into one of the largest collection of passenger schooners outside the world's coolest bar, made of old ships' masts and timbers.
The Artist House on Eaton st A very Historic Inn This building is so rich in history, ask the staff and they will tell you the stories.
Durtto's is voted top 10 pizza's in America by trip advisor!
Not overly crowded, crew has an outstanding personality and service, food was great and the captain, Rick, entertains and runs a great ship.
I would personally pay double their price for the same experience!
Our family of seven plus an infant sailed with Captain Rick and crew to see a spectacular sunset from the water.
This is why we took the cruise, but we were surprised to receive so much more.
The crew was outstanding, friendly and informative of the Keys and what we were seeing (beside the sunset).
